Coach Mike Pastor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt & Instructor

I've been involved in fitness and martial arts for over 20 years — as a coach, a competitor, and a student who never stopped learning.

I'm a 1st Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and I've spent my career training people of all backgrounds — from complete beginners to competitive athletes. Along the way I've learned from coaches and martial artists around the world, and that experience shapes everything I do on the mat.

I started Control Theory Jiu Jitsu because I wanted to build something different. Most gyms throw beginners into the deep end and hope they figure it out. I wanted to create a school with a real curriculum — one where everything connects, builds on itself, and actually makes sense to someone who has never trained before.

My approach is simple: understand the system, control the situation. Whether you're learning your first escape or drilling your third month of fundamentals, the goal is always the same — build real skill that holds up under pressure.

I also run a personal training practice out of the same gym, so I understand better than most how the body works, how to train intelligently, and how to help people make progress without breaking down.

If you've been thinking about trying jiu jitsu — whether you're 25 or 55, in shape or not, this is a good place to start.
